IGNOU BEd Entrance Test 2017 Notification, Eligibility, Apply, Hall Tickets

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is inviting applications for admission into Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Programme 2018. The B.Ed. Programme offered by IGNOU is an innovative programme utilizing self instructional materials and information technology along with interactive personal contact programmes. The Programme is essentially a judicious mix of theoretical and practical courses to develop in a practicing teacher appropriate knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes.


The B.Ed. Programme of IGNOU is recognized by the NCTE vide their Letters No. F3/DL-83/99/7807-7812 dated 31.05.1999 and NRC/NCTE/OL-83/dated 23/10/2015 is offered in NCTE approved B.Ed Training Colleges of Education in the country.

Fee (in the form of DD) : Rs.1050/-


Candidates with:

  • At least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and /or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanity. Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualifications equivalent thereto.

The following categories are eligible to be students of B.Ed. (ODL)

  1. Trained in-service teachers in elementary education
  2. Candidates who have completed an NCTE recognized teacher education programme through face-to face mode.
  • The reservation and relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility will be provided to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PWD candidates as per the rules of the Central Government.
  • The Reservation to Kashmiri Migrants and War window candidates will be provided as per University Rules.


Filled in form must reach the Regional Centre concerned on or before 11-08-2017.

The admission to this programme is on the basis of an Entrance Test to be conducted on Sunday, the 24th September, 2017

Submission of the Application for Entrance Test cum Admission form : The candidates will be required to submit only the filled-in application form with all attested documents as mentioned in the Entrance cum Admission Form at the concerned Regional Centre. However, in case of downloaded forms. A fee of ` 1050/- in the form of demand draft payable at the city of concerned Regional Centre may please be submitted alongwith the application form.


The B.Ed. programme will focus on:

  • developing an understanding of context of education in contemporary Indian Society,
  • appreciating the role of context and sociopolitical realities about learners in facilitating learning in inclusive settings,
  • creating sensitivity about language diversity in the classroom and its role in teaching-learning process
  • developing an understanding of paradigm shift in conceptualizing disciplinary knowledge in school curriculum,
  • identifying, challenging and overcoming gender inequalities in school, classroom, curricula, textbook, social institutions, etc.,
  • enabling student-teachers to acquire necessary competencies for organizing learning experiences,
  • developing competencies among student-teachers to select and use appropriate assessment strategies for facilitating learning,
  • engaging student-teachers with self, child, community and school to establish close connections between different curricular areas,
  • enabling student-teachers to integrate and apply ICT in facilitating teaching-learning process and in school management,
  • systematizing experiences and strengthening the professional competencies of student teachers, and
  • providing first-hand experience of all the school activities through engaging student-teachers as interns in secondary/senior secondary schools.


The test paper will consist of two parts A & B. The total number of test items will be 100 of one mark each. Maximum Marks allotted to the test is 100. The composite time for the complete test is Two Hours.
